Nokia OZO is the first professional virtual reality (VR) camera designed and built for content creators and the first product launched in a planned portfolio of digital media solutions from Nokia Technologies.
With Axel Meyer and Erich Martino leading the project from Nokia Tech, we developed a new visual identity for this groundbreaking product.
During the research process, a source of inspiration came from precision optical instruments with emblems and symbols engraved into their metal body. Surprising geometric scripts and minimalist monoline sans typefaces with warm mechanical souls.
At the Nokia OZO brand core is a font developed exclusively for the project: Nokia Pure Monoline Extended, everything comes together through this typeface. It provides a recognisable brand identity while connecting, through a careful use of structure and formal gestures, with Nokia's brand DNA. It is the result of an ongoing exploration of size-specific type design, constant line thickness on all dimensions is accomplished using specific optical sizes.
Included with OZO Camera, the OZO Custom Software Suite enables remote control, post-production and preview content. We created a set of icons for OZO Remote, OZO Creator, and OZO Preview.
