Contemporary Culture British publishers, Black Dog Publishing, approached RS to art direct a book celebrating 100 Years of Magazine Covers written by Steve Taylor. It is a stunning exploration of a relentlessly innovative medium that continues to compel, challenge and surprise.

Using a vivid colour palette, strong chapter breaks and breakout pages - enabled to bring a century of amazing magazine covers together in one book - retaining an emphasis on the covers where needed without being too repetitive. 

RS applied magazine like elements to the layout making it a book to read, inspire and become a reference in the matter. We achieved a strong tactile experience by the use of spot UV gloss on the cover, round back binding and custom printed ends papers. 

This project was a good fit for the studio; Brody made his name largely through his revolutionary work as Art Director for the Face magazine. His international magazine directions have also included City Limits, Lei, Per Lui, Actuel and Arena, together with London's The Observer newspaper and magazine.
